22-Year-Old Woman Allegedly Poisons Stepchildren In Yobe

A 22-year-old woman, identified as Khadija Yakubu, has allegedly poisoned her 4 stepchildren, leading to the death of three of them.

The incident was said to have happened at Makara-Huta area of Potiskum local government area of Yobe State on Friday.

It was gathered that the woman allegedly gave the children poisoned tea and they became sick after taking it.

The children were said to have been rushed to hospital, but unfortunately, three of the victims died while receiving treatment and one of them remained unconscious.

Yobe State Police Spokesperson, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect has been arrested and is in custody.

He disclosed that investigation has begun in order to ascertain the remote and immediate cause of the incident and the suspect will be charged afterwards.
