Ondo Poll: Jegede Closes Case At Election Petition Tribunal

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the October 10, 2020 election in Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede, has closed his case at the Election Petition Tribunal in Akure on Wednesday.

Jegede is challenging the declaration of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu as the winner of the October 10 election.

The PDP candidate had earlier listed 400 witnesses to prove his case before the Tribunal.

However, his counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu SAN, informed the Tribunal that his clients are no longer interested in calling witnesses apart from the candidate himself.

Counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Charles Uwensuyi- Edosomwan, prayed the Tribunal more time to further study the petitions before they open their defence.

Afterward, the Tribunal adjourned further hearing till January 19, 2021.
