One Shot Dead By Drunk Policemen At Ekiti Hotel

 

A man, identified as, Olaoye Abayomi has been shot dead by drunk policemen on Saturday night in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

A report from Sahara Reporters revealed that the victim was with his friend at Queens Court Hotel along Ado-Ikere Road, when the police officers attached to a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police arrived the scene and started misbehaving under the influence of alcohol.

They allegedly threatened to kill some of the guests and suddenly opened fire, and stray bullet hit Abayomi in the process.

The development caused pandemonium in the area and guests were forced to scamper for safety, while those who got injured were rushed to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti.

Police spokesperson in the state, Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incident, stated that the command had commenced investigation into the matter.

Abutu also disclosed that the policemen involved in the shooting had been detained at the police headquarters in Ado Ekiti.
